SANTO DOMINGO.– The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that vehicular traffic on the Floating Bridge over the Ozama River will be temporarily suspended this Saturday, June 13, due to the departure of a vessel from industrial facilities located in the area.
According to the institution, the closure will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to facilitate the passage of the MV Belle Lashun III vessel, which will depart from the facilities of Joseph Industrial Development Corp.
During that period, the Floating Bridge will remain out of service to ensure the safety of maritime operations and users of this infrastructure that connects the National District with the Villa Duarte sector in Santo Domingo East.
Temporary navigation operation
The MOPC indicated that these types of procedures are part of the usual coordination carried out when large vessels need to cross the section of the Ozama River where the bridge operates.
The institution urged drivers to plan their journeys in advance and take the necessary precautions to avoid delays during the hours when traffic will be interrupted.
Alternative routes
As alternative routes to travel between the National District and Santo Domingo East, the ministry recommended using the Matías Ramón Mella Bridge, Juan Pablo Duarte Bridge and Juan Bosch Bridge.
Authorities reiterated that traffic across the Floating Bridge will be restored once the navigation maneuver scheduled for noon on Saturday is completed
