Dominican Republic expands its connectivity with new routes from AILA, announces AERODOM

SANTO DOMINGO.– Yesterday, Monday, August 10, AERODOM announced the expansion of air connectivity at Las Américas International Airport, José Francisco Peña Gómez (SDQ), with new international routes and increased frequencies in several of its main markets.

Although the statement was issued yesterday, it specifies that operations began to be implemented in July and will continue until December of this year, consolidating Santo Domingo as one of the main air connectivity centers in the Caribbean.

JetBlue price increase

Among the company's announcements is the permanent increase in JetBlue's operations between Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Santo Domingo, which since July 9 has gone from one to three daily flights, offering greater flexibility for passengers traveling between the two destinations.

Furthermore, Copa Airlines reached a total of five daily flights between Panama (PTY) and Santo Domingo starting in July 2026 , strengthening connectivity with the Hub of the Americas and expanding connection options to dozens of destinations in Latin America.

It adds that Arajet will increase its operations between Santo Domingo and Bogotá (BOG) starting August 10, going from seven to eight weekly flights.

AERODOM's information emphasizes that the expansion also includes the addition of new international routes, citing Sunrise Airways, which will begin flights between Santo Domingo and Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe (PTP), with two weekly frequencies starting on August 3.

New routes in winter

During the winter season, ITA Airways will inaugurate its new route between Rome (FCO) and Santo Domingo with one weekly flight from November 30, increasing to two weekly flights from December 20.

It also states that Air Canada will add a new seasonal route between Montreal (YUL) and Santo Domingo with two weekly flights starting December 10, while United Airlines will start a new connection between Houston (IAH) and Santo Domingo with three weekly flights starting December 18.

“Each new route and each increased frequency represents more opportunities for the Dominican Republic. These expansions strengthen our connectivity with strategic markets in North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe, boosting tourism, business, and the country’s economic development. At AERODOM, we continue working alongside our partner airlines to further expand travel options and consolidate our airports as leading gateways in the region,” said Cyril Girot, CEO of AERODOM.

AERODOM highlights that it is carrying out a broad investment program at Las Américas International Airport, which includes the construction of a new passenger terminal with an investment of RD$24 billion, the rehabilitation of the main runway and the implementation of a modern automated baggage handling system (BHS).

He asserts that these initiatives are part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of the country's main airport and raising the standards of safety, efficiency and quality of service for passengers, airlines and other users.
