SANTO DOMINGO.- Fernando Hazoury was distinguished as “Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year” at the fifth edition of the National Tourism Award, for his career and his contributions to initiatives linked to the industry in the Dominican Republic.
Upon receiving the award, the businessman thanked the organizers, led by Luis Severino, and highlighted that the tribute also represents the effort of the Hazoury Toral family, particularly that of his older brother Ricardo, to whom he attributed the initial vision of the place that is now Cap Cana.
He also shared the credit with the collaborators who for years have participated in the construction and expansion of the so-called Destination City, highlighting their commitment to an initiative that, he said, aspires to become a legacy for the country.

During his speech, Hazoury acknowledged the dedication of those who have remained involved with the project at different stages, even during the most difficult periods.
The businessman stated that Cap Cana's growth has been made possible by the work of a team that continues to support a developing city, with the aspiration of offering residents and visitors a wide variety of services and experiences within the same complex.
In that regard, he noted that there are still important aspects to complete in the coming years to realize the vision with which the project was conceived.
Similarly, he highlighted that Cap Cana emerged from an initiative backed by Dominican capital and aimed at creating a high-level destination that contributes to strengthening the Dominican Republic's position in the international tourism market.

Hazoury also emphasized the importance of tourism to the national economy, considering it one of the country's main strengths. He added that the hospitality and character of Dominicans are a major draw for visitors to the island.
Furthermore, he acknowledged the qualities of the various tourist areas within the country and stressed the need to continue promoting initiatives that generate job opportunities and improve family incomes.
The award recipient maintained that receiving accolades is not the primary motivation for entrepreneurs, although he expressed gratitude for the distinction. In his view, the true value of creating a company also lies in leaving a legacy of knowledge and experience for future generations.
Finally, he urged young entrepreneurs to cultivate discipline, perseverance, and preparation in their respective areas, while emphasizing that constant work and resilience are fundamental to realizing their aspirations.
