SANTO DOMINGO.- To facilitate the process of issuing the new driver's license, which came into effect on March 2nd and aims to strengthen road safety in the Dominican Republic, starting this Monday, March 9th, those interested in renewing or issuing their driver's license can schedule an appointment through the entity's designated channels.
The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), the governing body, announced that appointments to apply for the new driver's license can be scheduled through the institutional portal, as part of the measures implemented to facilitate the advance scheduling of procedures and improve service at service centers.
How to access your appointment
According to a press release from Intrant, to access the system, users must go to the main page of the institutional website www.intrant.gob.do , where they will find a highlighted box that they must press, which will direct them to the platform to schedule their appointment.
"Through this tool, users can organize their process in advance, select their preferred office and go at the established time, thus contributing to optimizing service and reducing waiting times at service centers," explains the press release.
Available 24 hours a day for user convenience
The system is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing users to manage their appointment at the most convenient time, the official statement adds.
It notes that through the platform, citizens can select the office closest to their place of residence, among the centers authorized to provide licensing services.
Positions designated for the expedition
Citizens can request their appointment for issuance or renewal of the driver's license at the following locations: Intrant Headquarters (Tiradentes Avenue), Blue Mall, Multicentro, Sambil (GOB Point), Megacentro (GOB Point) and Bella Terra Mall, in Santiago.
The system also displays the available dates and times at each office, allowing the user to choose the shift that best suits their schedule and organize their visit in advance.
The platform also allows users to consult the procedure they must follow and the documentation required to complete the process, before going to the service center.

Intrant reminded the public that before scheduling an appointment, it is important to check if they have any outstanding traffic fines, as these must be paid in order to complete the process of issuing or renewing a driver's license.
Through the same platform, citizens can check the number of outstanding fines and manage this requirement in advance to avoid problems when carrying out their procedure.
Once the appointment is confirmed, the system generates a voucher that must be presented upon arrival at the selected office, either printed or available on the mobile phone screen.
Intrant explained that the appointment system aims to avoid long lines and ensure an orderly flow of citizen service, facilitating a more agile and efficient at license issuance centers.
