Expo Feria Destino Oeste 2026 brings together 60 companies and 44 entrepreneurs to promote business, investment and productive development

SANTO DOMINGO – More than 5,100 formal businesses operate in Santo Domingo Oeste, generating approximately 88,000 jobs, according to data presented during the inauguration of Expo Feria Destino Oeste 2026.Of these, some 92 are medium-sized businesses with more than 150 employees, while around 32 are large companies, primarily industrial, with workforces ranging from 500 to 2,500 employees.

The data was presented by Leandro Mieses, general manager of Expo Feria Destino Oeste 2026, during the opening ceremony of this initiative, which brings together some 60 companies and 44 entrepreneurs with the purpose of connecting the business fabric of the municipality, promoting business opportunities and facilitating links that contribute to investment and productive development of Santo Domingo Oeste.

In his speech, Mieses highlighted that the municipality has a consolidated business structure and called for strengthening the connections between companies, entrepreneurs, public institutions, financial entities and universities.

"Santo Domingo Oeste doesn't need us to invent potential for it. It needs us to connect the potential it already has. We are a territory of industry, commerce, logistics, entrepreneurship, and opportunities," he stated.

The general manager of the initiative pointed out that the figures demonstrate the importance of Santo Domingo Oeste within the country's productive and business activity, while also raising the need to create more spaces for collaboration to take advantage of the existing capabilities in the territory.

For his part, Francis Mateo, vice president of the National Association of Companies and Industries of Herrera (ANEIH), highlighted the importance of collaboration between the different sectors to boost economic growth.

"At ANEIH, we understand that economic development is built when the public, private, academic sectors and society work together, creating the conditions for companies to grow, generate jobs and contribute to the well-being of our communities," he explained.

An agenda for generating business

Under the slogan "Connecting industry, companies and opportunities", Expo Feria Destino Oeste 2026 takes place from August 27 to 30 at the Club Julio Sauri, located on Luperón Avenue, near the corner of Cayetano Germosén.

For four days, the fair features a program of conferences, talks, panels, workshops, mentoring sessions, business meetings and networking opportunities, with free admission for the general public.

The program covers topics related to industry, production development, financing, entrepreneurship, innovation, logistics, competitiveness, and territorial development. Content includes the formalization and scaling of SMEs, access to financing, tax obligations, sustainability, digital transformation, business intelligence, and foreign trade.

Additionally, business rounds organized by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM) will be held, along with a round table discussion on the productive agenda of Santo Domingo Oeste, as well as activities aimed at entrepreneurs and small businesses.

The fair has the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of the Province of Santo Domingo, the National Association of Companies and Industries of Herrera (ANEIH), the Mayor's Office of Santo Domingo Oeste and other entities linked to the business and productive ecosystem.

Expo Feria Destino Oeste 2026 will remain open until Sunday, August 30.
