SANTO DOMINGO.- Banco Popular Dominicano announced an alliance with inDrive, an urban mobility platform, to enable digital payments for trips made through the application.
The financial institution explained that thanks to this, users will be able to select TokeToke, the Bank's comprehensive digital payment solution, as a payment method for their trips, reducing the use of cash and facilitating transactions between passengers and drivers in a digital, fast and secure way.
A press release states that the new payment option will be available to inDrive users and drivers throughout the country and can be used in the various service categories offered by the mobility platform, including urban car, motorcycle, comfort and ride+ trips.
It adds that payments will be made through the inDrive app via direct transfers between user and driver using the Toke app or QR codes, a method that will allow transactions to be completed simply and quickly. The availability of this payment option will gradually increase as more drivers enroll in the Toke service and activate their QR codes for payments.
Urban mobility and digital transformation
Both entities point out that the alliance seeks to respond to a growing demand for solutions that simplify daily transactions and allow users to make payments quickly and securely, without depending on cash, an initiative that is part of a trend observed in different markets, where technological platforms have expanded the options available to carry out transactions electronically, they emphasize.
They explain that in the Dominican Republic, this movement coincides with a gradual evolution of users' payment habits and a greater use of digital tools for transfers and service payments.
The agreement also includes joint communication campaigns, promotional activities, and incentive programs aimed at passengers and drivers, with the goal of boosting awareness and use of Toke within the inDrive ecosystem.
