The Dominican Republic projects 38 cruise ship calls during September in Puerto Plata, La Romana and Cabo Rojo

SANTO DOMINGO.– The Dominican Republic will maintain a busy schedule of cruise ship arrivals during the month of September to boost Caribbean maritime tourism, with the arrival of various international lines dedicated to this type of tourism.

One of the first to arrive at the Taíno Bay tourist port was the Celebrity Beyond, from Miami, with 3,224 passengers and 1,444 crew members, who disembarked last Tuesday, September 1st.

According to statistics from the Dominican Port Authority, APORDOM, during the ninth month of 2026, there will be 38 cruise ship calls scheduled in ports and anchorages of the Dominican Republic.

The vessel docked at 7:46 a.m. and departed at 2:30 p.m. bound for Tortola.

Active cruise activity

Among the scheduled arrivals for this month, the Regal Princess, from Princess Cruises, stands out, with planned visits to Puerto Plata on September 14 and 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The schedule includes operations from major international lines, including Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Virgin Voyages and Princess Cruises.

The stops will be distributed between Puerto Plata, La Romana and Cabo Rojo, strengthening tourism activity linked to the cruise segment.

It aims to consolidate the country as a Caribbean hub

The executive director of the Dominican Port Authority, Alejandro Campos, highlighted that one of the priorities of his administration is to consolidate the Dominican Republic as a cruise center in the Caribbean.

To achieve that goal, he explained that work is underway to strengthen the terminals, attract new cruise lines, and increase community participation in the benefits generated by this activity.

“The Dominican Republic has shown that it has the potential to consolidate itself as a true Caribbean cruise hub,” Campos said.

More lines and vessels on the agenda

During September, operations are also planned for ships such as Carnival Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration, Norwegian Prima, MSC World America, Resilient Lady and Allure of the Seas.

The movement of these vessels keeps the country's main port destinations within the route of the major cruise lines operating in the Caribbean.

The Dominican Port Authority reminded that the dates and times of the stops may vary, according to the operating conditions of the different cruise lines.
