SANTO DOMINGO.- The National Office of Seismic Evaluation and Vulnerability of Infrastructure and Buildings (Onesvie), in coordination with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, carried out a reforestation day in the community of Las Arenas, municipality of Cevicos located in the province of Sánchez Ramírez, as part of its sustainability and social responsibility actions.
According to the institution, 600 trees of the Pinus caribaea, with the participation of collaborators of the entity, who joined the forest recovery work.
Recovery of forest areas
According to Onesvie, the event was attended by Teófilo Álvarez, Reforestation Supervisor in Sánchez Ramírez, who highlighted the importance of these actions to strengthen vegetation cover and recover impacted areas.
The organization explained that the work will benefit communities such as Doña María, Las Arenas, Jabonico, Barrio Coco and Sabana de Payabo, where planting and environmental restoration programs will continue to be developed.
Contribution to sustainability
According to the institution, this initiative contributes to mitigating the effects of climate change, preserving watersheds, and recovering vulnerable areas.
Onesvie also noted that it will continue to promote actions aimed at strengthening environmental awareness and ecosystem resilience, considering sustainability as a key element for risk reduction and community protection.
