Nearly 2,000 young people have been trained in the Entrepreneurship Diploma program since 2016
SANTO DOMINGO.– Banco Popular Dominicano, together with the Loyola Polytechnic Institute (IPL) and the Loyola Specialized Institute of Higher Studies (IEESL), celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Entrepreneurship Diploma program, an initiative that has benefited 1,944 young people.
According to the financial institution, the program seeks to strengthen the entrepreneurial culture by training students in the creation of formal micro-enterprises and the development of business skills.
According to the organizing institutions, the 2026 edition had the participation of 121 secondary and higher technical level students, who complemented their academic training with tools to develop sustainable projects.
Entrepreneurial skills training
Banco Popular highlighted that during these ten years, participants have received training in areas such as business models, marketing, financial analysis, sustainability, and applied technologies.
Furthermore, as established in the program, students have been trained in skills to structure and present business proposals with a practical and innovative approach.
Impact of the educational alliance
José Mármol, executive vice president of Corporate Communications, Reputation and Responsible Banking at Grupo Popular, explained that the initiative has generated real opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
He stated that the alliance between the entities involved has become a benchmark model in entrepreneurial education.
For his part, the rector of IPL, Father José Victoriano, SJ, pointed out that the program has demonstrated that the integration between education and innovation allows ideas to be transformed into projects of value to society.
Projects developed
According to the organizers, in this edition the students presented projects in areas such as renewable energy, agro-industry, food and beverages, health and wellness, as well as beauty and personal care.
The projects reflect the practical application of the knowledge acquired and the program's focus on innovation and sustainability.
