Awards entrepreneurs with RD$3.3 million in seed capital.
SANTO DOMINGO.- Banco Popular Dominicano announced the launch of Impúlsate Silver, a new platform that promotes entrepreneurship in people over 60 years of age.
The program will include a call for proposals, selection of proposals, training, presentation, and selection of winners.
The prizes include a first prize of RD$1.5 million and two honorable mentions of RD$500,000 each for innovative or socially impactful projects. Details of the competition, as well as the requirements for participation, can be found on the website www.impulsate.com.do/silver
The information was released within the framework of the eighth edition of Impúlsate Popular, the university entrepreneurship support program, through which a seed capital fund of RD$3.3 million was allocated for innovative and sustainable projects that strengthen the country's economic and social development.
A press release highlights that the call received 132 projects from 16 universities across the country, covering economic sectors such as agritourism, manufacturing, proptech or technology for the real estate sector, e-commerce and retail, among others.

The entrepreneurs participated in a training and leveling program, which began in their academies and culminated with the evaluation by a jury made up of professionals from various areas and executives from Banco Popular.
Winners and special mentions
Each winning team received a seed capital prize of RD$1.1 million.
The winners were 3DHub, a design and manufacturing studio specializing in custom trophies using 3D printing; Grupo RR&T, an agro-export company dedicated to the production of hot peppers and the export of agricultural products; and Domastic, a home automation company that transforms homes and businesses into smart spaces without the need for expensive equipment.
Meanwhile, two special mentions were awarded, with a prize of RD$300,000 for each. Uworktify, a platform with artificial intelligence that allows two Uber drivers to share the same electric vehicle, was recognized for innovation, and Tierra Tropical, an agritourism farm that provides educational and recreational experiences for the whole family in a sustainable environment, was awarded for its environmental impact.
During the awards ceremony, Giselle Moreno, Vice President of Marketing at Banco Popular, highlighted the transformative value of this initiative, noting that, for the bank, entrepreneurship is a key driver for the nation's comprehensive development.
“Our commitment transcends the financial aspect; it is rooted in a greater purpose of contributing to social progress, generating shared value, promoting responsible innovation, and caring for the natural resources that future generations will inherit,” the executive said.
