SANTO DOMINGO.- Drivers traveling between the National District and Villa Duarte should plan alternate routes this Saturday, due to a scheduled operation on the Floating Bridge over the Ozama River that will require the temporary suspension of vehicular traffic, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reported.
The institution explained that the closure will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to allow the M/V Isla Mujeres the Joseph Industrial Development Corp. facilities.
The Floating Bridge, one of the main connecting routes between the National District and Santo Domingo East, will remain out of service during that period, so the authorities urged drivers to take precautions and reorganize their journeys to avoid delays.
Alternative routes to avoid traffic jams
According to the MOPC, users can use the Matías Ramón Mella, Juan Pablo Duarte and Juan Bosch bridges as alternative routes, which connect both sides of the Ozama River and will allow traffic to continue while the maritime operation is underway.
The institution recommended that citizens leave early and consider these routes to minimize the impact on mobility during the two hours that passage over the bridge will be suspended.
