The Metropolitan Transportation Company reported that the transfer at the Franklin Mieses station has been eliminated, allowing continuous journeys between Los Alcarrizos and the María Montez station
SANTO DOMINGO.– For thousands of users who use Line 2C of the Santo Domingo Metro daily, the journey to the National District has just been simplified.
The Metropolitan Transportation Company (EMT) announced yesterday, Sunday, that passengers will no longer have to transfer at the Franklin Mieses station, a maneuver that until now required changing trains to continue the journey to the María Montez station, at kilometer 9 of the Duarte highway.
The measure was communicated through MetroRD, where the institution indicated that users can remain on board the same train until completing their journey, without needing to get off and board another unit.
Fewer interruptions during the journey
The transfer had been implemented temporarily since the opening of the Line 2C extension, while operational adjustments were made to the new section connecting Los Alcarrizos with the rest of the railway network.
Its removal represents an improvement for passengers who use this route daily, as it reduces one of the main travel disruptions and allows for smoother travel between Los Alcarrizos, Santo Domingo Oeste and other points connected to Line 2.
Line 2C was inaugurated as a strategic expansion of the mass transit system and has five stations that link kilometer 9 of the Duarte highway with the municipality of Los Alcarrizos, one of the areas with the highest population growth in Greater Santo Domingo.
EMT reminded the public that the service remains free and maintains its usual operating hours.
