The work will cause the well fields to be out of operation between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., affecting the water supply in various locations within the municipality
SANTO DOMINGO. More than 20 sectors of Santo Domingo East will have temporary limitations in the drinking water service this Monday, September 14, and Wednesday, September 16, due to the shutdown of the La Joya and Los Marenos Well Fields, the Santo Domingo Water and Sewerage Corporation (Caasd) reported this Monday.
The entity explained that the interruption will occur due to a scheduled intervention by the Dominican Electric Transmission Company (ETED) on a 69,000 volt transmission line that connects Boca Chica with San Pedro de Macorís.
These are the areas that will be affected this Monday
According to information provided by CAASD this Monday, the areas that will have limitations in the service include the San Lorenzo de Los Mina Maternity Hospital, Comedor Económico, Ensanche Ozama, Ramón Matías Mella Urbanization (Molinuevo), El Oxígeno neighborhood, Alma Rosa I and II, Los Tres Brazos and El Kennedy neighborhood.
Also included are Perla Antillana, Villa Liberación, Urbanización Corambar, Barrio Margara, Ensanche Las Américas, Villa Olímpica, Jardines de Alma Rosa, Parque del Este, Maquiteria, Simonico, Pueblo Nuevo and the buildings located on Avenida Iberoamericana, among others.
These areas will experience disruptions next Wednesday
On Wednesday, September 16, the interruption will cover sectors such as Los Mameyes, Villa Duarte, La Francia, El Pensador, Riviera Colonial, Flor del Tamarindo, La Tablita, Residencial Antares, Los Molinos and Plan Social.
The affected areas will also include the Los Mina Maternity Hospital, the Dominican Republic Navy, and Puerto Sans Soucí, among other locations.
They will have tanker trucks available
The Caasd reported that it will have a fleet of tanker trucks to reinforce the supply in the areas most affected during the interruption.
The institution indicated that these resources will be prioritized for health centers, educational centers, and other facilities that provide essential services.
The restoration will be gradual
The government entity specified that, once the electricity supply is restored, the La Joya and Los Marenos well fields will be progressively reincorporated into their operations.
The Caasd indicated that, due to this process, the drinking water service will gradually return to normal in the affected areas.
The institution urged residents to use water rationally and store only the amount necessary to cover their basic needs during the interruption period.
