Belkys Cuello highlights opportunities for the Dominican real estate sector from CILA

SANTO DOMINGO. The election of Belkys Cuello as Vice President for the Northern Cone of the Latin American Real Estate Confederation (CILA) represents an opportunity to strengthen the Dominican Republic's presence in the regional real estate market, promote the internationalization of professionals, and generate new business alliances in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Cuello expressed his satisfaction at assuming this responsibility and highlighted the potential that the Dominican Republic has to project itself on the international real estate stage.

“For the Dominican Republic, this represents a great opportunity, and personally, I feel enormous pride in being able to bring the name of our country to this space,” he expressed.

The country strengthens its presence in the regional real estate market

The Vice President of CILA highlighted the dynamism of the Dominican real estate market, its tourism vocation, high-level projects, connectivity, stability, infrastructure and its geographical position as elements that favor the development of new opportunities.

“We have a dynamic real estate market, an extraordinary tourism vocation, high-level projects and a strategic location that makes us a gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America,” Cuello said.

The Dominican Republic consolidates its position as a strategic hub in the Caribbean

He explained that the Dominican Republic is undergoing a transformation process that is consolidating it as a strategic hub in the Caribbean, with conditions to connect businesses, capital and opportunities with other markets in the region.

“Our country is experiencing a moment of transformation and consolidating itself as a strategic hub in the Caribbean, with ever-increasing opportunities for companies, investors and professionals seeking to establish themselves, operate or expand from our region,” he stated.

Cuello pointed out that the country's connectivity, stability, infrastructure, economic growth, and geographic location allow it to be projected as a platform for doing business in the Caribbean and Latin America.

In that context, he pointed out that the growth of different sectors generates a demand for residential, commercial, corporate, logistics and service spaces, which expands the field of action of real estate professionals.

CILA opens new doors for Dominican agents

From her new position, the director of AEI's International Department is committed to strengthening ties between Dominican real estate agents and professionals from other Latin American countries.

He considered that one of the main benefits of regional integration is that professionals can broaden their scope of action and establish business relationships outside the local market.

“I believe this opens a huge door to the internationalization of our professionals,” he said.

He explained that a Dominican agent can have clients interested in investing in other countries, receive foreign buyers interested in the local market, or establish alliances with professionals from different destinations.

“A Dominican agent can have a client who wants to invest in another country, receive a foreign buyer interested in our market, or establish an alliance with a professional from any other destination in Latin America,” he noted.

Training and business development

The vice president of the Real Estate Confederation stated that regional integration should translate into concrete opportunities for professionals in the sector, through training, exchange of experiences, generation of international referrals and business development.

In that sense, he highlighted that CILA's vision seeks to consolidate an ecosystem of learning, preparation, networking and business generation.

“I want our agents to be able to train, exchange experiences, generate international referrals, share business opportunities, and build long-term relationships,” he said.

Cuello indicated that this approach coincides with the work he has developed from the International Directorate of the Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies (AEI), from where he has sought to open doors and create alliances for Dominican professionals.

“This is very much in line with the work I have been developing from the International Directorate of the AEI: opening doors, generating alliances and bringing our professionals closer to new realities and opportunities,” he stated.

Professionalization to compete abroad

He argued that the internationalization of the sector does not only involve selling properties in other countries, but also raising the preparation and standards with which real estate agents work.

In that regard, he considered it essential to strengthen aspects such as ethics, service, training and professionalization so that Dominican agents can compete in international scenarios.

“Going international doesn’t just mean selling abroad. It also means improving our training, our ethics, our service, and our way of doing business,” he emphasized.

Cuello hopes that the country's real estate professionals can project themselves internationally with preparation and pride in representing the Dominican Republic.

“I want our agents to be able to go out into the world feeling proud of what they represent and prepared to compete to the highest standards,” he said.

RD seeks to position itself as a business platform

The Dominican representative at CILA noted that one of her objectives is to help the country be recognized not only as an attractive destination to invest and live in, but also as a strategic point from which businesses, capital and opportunities can connect with the Caribbean and Latin America.

“I want the Dominican Republic to be recognized not only as an attractive destination to invest and live in, but as a strategic country from which businesses, capital, and opportunities can be connected with the entire Caribbean and Latin America,” he concluded.
