Alacero, through the Steel Design Competition for Architecture Students, seeks to encourage the design and use of steel in construction among architecture students and related fields throughout Latin America.
SANTO DOMINGO- Rohanny Ureña Mejía, María Gabriela Dotel Hernández and Romina Mejía, are the three students from the Faculty of Architecture and Arts of the National University Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), who won the Dominican Steel Association (Adoacero) 2022 competition.
Having won this competition, the students will participate in the 15th edition of the Congress of the Latin American Steel Association (Alacero), to be held in Brazil next November, with the main focus being Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
The winning students will now have to present their project internationally at Alacero. They are mentored by architecture professor Jenny Annelisse Garrido Gautreaux.

In 2019, the Dominican Steel Association (Adoacero), together with a group of students from Unphu, won silver at the 12th edition of the Alacero Congress, for their project “UV-DA Center” with which they represented the Dominican Republic in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
