SANTO DOMINGO.– Engineer Igor Rodríguez Durán assumed the position of Director General of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) yesterday, Monday, in a ceremony led by the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza.
In the presence of staff members of the institution, Rodríguez highlighted his commitment to continue strengthening transparency, innovation and the growth of civil aviation in the country.
He expressed his gratitude to President Luis Abinader for the trust placed in him by assigning him the leadership of the organization, and reaffirmed his mission to consolidate the achievements made in the entity.
“A great team of men and women will accompany me in this task, and united as one family, we will deliver good results to Dominican society,” he said.

For his part, the outgoing director, Héctor Porcella, expressed his confidence that Rodríguez's management will bring dynamism to this important sector.
“I am sure that Igor will make a great effort within the framework of his new functions and I reiterate my availability for whatever may be required at any time,” emphasized Porcella, who was appointed president of the Civil Aviation Board.
At the time of Rodríguez's swearing-in, Minister Paliza highlighted the work done by Porcella, emphasizing achievements such as the signing of the Open Skies agreement and the preservation of Category 1.
“I congratulate Hector and the entire team for their efforts over these years; they have succeeded in bringing this institution forward.
"I wish Igor Rodríguez success in his new role; he is an upstanding person who is always willing to achieve his goals," he said.

Rodríguez is a graduate of the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in Systems and Computer Engineering.
He holds master's degrees in Software Engineering, Business Administration, Executive Management and Logistics, all from PUCMM, and is also a private pilot.
In the past four years he was the Administrative Vice Minister of the Presidency and since January he has served as interim minister, following the leave of absence of José Ignacio Paliza.
He was appointed as director of IDAC by President Abinader on July 17.
