ONE begins survey in 25,000 homes to learn about living conditions in the Dominican Republic

The survey will be conducted from October 13 to November 30 and will include modules on information and communication technologies and victimization

SANTO DOMINGO.- The National Statistics Office (ONE) launched the National Household Survey of Multiple Purposes (ENHOGAR-2026) this Tuesday, an operation that will cover 25,000 homes in the country until November 30, with the purpose of updating data on the living conditions of the Dominican population.

The research will have national scope and will allow the collection of information on the characteristics of the houses, the composition of the households and the profile of their members, in addition to aspects related to education, the economy, technology and citizen security.

According to the institution, this edition incorporates specific modules on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and victimization, with which it seeks to expand the available statistics on access to and use of technological tools, as well as citizens' experiences in security matters.

What will ENHOGAR-2026 investigate?

The study comprises six modules: housing and households, characteristics of individuals, education, economy, ICT, and victimization. This structure will allow for monitoring the indicators collected in previous versions and integrating data on the specific needs of Dominican society.

The survey aims to examine housing conditions, determine gaps in access to technologies, analyze educational and economic aspects, and produce disaggregated statistics that contribute to the design of social inclusion policies.

How will the results contribute to public policy?

Furthermore, the information obtained will complement other statistical sources and support the formulation, implementation and evaluation of government initiatives related to employment, education, citizen security and access to essential services, such as water, energy and housing.

In this regard, the ONE highlighted that the findings will also facilitate the monitoring of national and international commitments, including the National Development Strategy (END), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the National Multi-Year Public Sector Plan (PNPSP) and the National Statistical Plan (PEN).

The organization stated that having up-to-date and reliable figures is essential to identify needs, establish priorities, and guide the decisions of the authorities for the benefit of the population.

ONE asks selected households to cooperate with the surveyors

The institution urged the selected families to welcome the staff responsible for the interviews and provide the required information, considering that their collaboration is crucial to ensuring the quality and representativeness of the results.

He also specified that the interviewers will be properly identified with a card that will include a photograph, name and position, in addition to the official logos of the National Statistics Office and ENHOGAR.

In that regard, the ONE urged residents of the selected homes to verify the credentials of the staff before providing the requested data.

How will the collected information be protected?

The ONE assured that the data obtained will be treated under strict confidentiality, in accordance with article 12 of Law No. 5096, of May 1956, which regulates the National Statistical System.

This survey is part of the institution's efforts to keep statistics on household characteristics and the socioeconomic reality of their members up to date.

Finally, as the coordinating body of the National Statistical System (SEN), the ONE reaffirmed its commitment to the production of quality official statistics that are comparable and useful for planning, public policy design and decision-making.
