ACOPROVI announces real estate fair “Closer to Home”

The initiative will bring together 31 Dominican companies and seeks to bring housing, investment and financing opportunities to the diaspora in the Dominican Republic

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Association of Housing Builders and Developers (ACOPROVI) presented the real estate fair “Closer to Home”, an initiative that seeks to connect Dominicans residing in Europe with housing projects, investment alternatives and financing options available in the Dominican Republic.

The fair will take place from November 6 to 8, 2026, in Madrid, Spain, as part of Dominican Week in Spain. The event will feature 31 companies from the real estate and financial sectors, including 21 construction companies, six real estate agents, and four financial institutions.

During the launch, ACOPROVI President Annerys Meléndez highlighted the importance of bringing the Dominican real estate offer to residents abroad and providing them with information on the available alternatives to acquire a home or make investments in the country.

“The construction sector in the Dominican Republic is strengthening year after year, and it is also important that this strength be available to the diaspora,” Meléndez stated.

The challenges of the construction sector

The event also served as a forum to discuss the challenges facing the construction sector as it approaches the end of 2026. Among the factors that may influence its growth are access to financing, construction costs, conditions for acquiring housing, and streamlining processes related to project development.

In this context, bringing the real estate market closer to Dominicans living abroad is a way to expand investment opportunities and facilitate contact between buyers, developers, and financial institutions.

MIVHED will promote buyer guidance

The fair will have the support of the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED). Its head, Jean Luis Rodríguez, highlighted the Government's commitment to Dominicans residing abroad and to initiatives aimed at guiding them through their real estate acquisition and investment processes.

During the event, MIVHED will promote its Safe Housing program, which guides citizens on how to evaluate housing providers and make a conscious and informed purchase.

Follow-up after the fair

“Closer to Home” will include registration mechanisms, lead generation, appointment scheduling and follow-up, with the aim of facilitating the connection between potential buyers, construction companies, real estate agents and participating financial institutions.

With this initiative, ACOPROVI seeks to bring the Dominican real estate market closer to the diaspora and generate greater opportunities for Dominicans residing in Spain to learn about and evaluate housing and investment options in their country.
