ADECLA celebrates its 15th anniversary advocating for the orderly and sustainable development of the province of La Altagracia

Mario Betances, the union's executive president, highlights the collaboration between the private sector and the authorities as key to supporting the province's expansion

SANTO DOMINGO.- The growth that La Altagracia is experiencing requires continued support from a vision of organization, sustainability and responsibility, based on greater coordination between the private sector, the authorities and the various actors involved in the transformation of the territory, said Mario Betances, executive president of the Association of Developers and Builders of the Province of La Altagracia (ADECLA).

On the occasion of the entity's 15th anniversary, the businessman pointed out that these years have represented the joint effort of an ecosystem linked to the real estate, tourism and construction sectors, committed to promoting a balanced expansion of the region.

“These 15 years represent the combined effort of an entire ecosystem that believes in orderly and sustainable development for La Altagracia. Today, ADECLA is the leading association in the construction sector in the region, and we continue working hand in hand with our authorities and partners so that Punta Cana remains synonymous with responsible growth,” he said.

The union strengthens its representation in La Altagracia

The association has more than 150 active members, including developers, builders and companies related to the industry, consolidating itself as a space for representation and dialogue in the face of the main challenges and opportunities posed by the transformation of La Altagracia.

Betances stated that the dynamism of tourism, real estate and construction in the area demands a long-term vision that allows for reconciling investments with the current and future needs of its communities.

Planning and coordination are priorities in the face of expansion

The chief executive of the association indicated that the sustained expansion of the demarcation makes it necessary to continue strengthening the planning and coordination mechanisms between the institutions, companies and other actors that have an impact on the territory.

He pointed out that the implementation of new projects must be developed in a way that is compatible with the infrastructure, service and planning needs that arise as a result of the evolution of the area.

“We have a responsibility to continue building bridges and generating consensus. The development of La Altagracia requires a shared, long-term vision, in which the public sector, the private sector, and communities move forward in the same direction,” Betances stated.

Approaches with authorities to expedite processes

As part of its institutional agenda, the organization maintains that it has held meetings with national and local authorities to discuss issues related to construction and the necessary conditions to continue attracting capital and investment to the region.

Among these initiatives, he cites the approaches with the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED), aimed at contributing to the modernization of the permitting processes.

The association also states that it has promoted initiatives together with authorities in Verón–Punta Cana with the purpose of identifying opportunities for improvement and fostering a more efficient environment for the execution of new projects.

Betances stated that collaboration between public institutions, businesses, and communities is essential to respond to the challenges posed by the rapid transformation of La Altagracia.

A long-term vision for Punta Cana and the province

The executive argued that the challenge for the coming years is to maintain the economic dynamism of the area without detaching it from responsible planning and the demands that accompany demographic, tourist and urban expansion.

In that regard, he indicated that the union will continue to promote spaces for conversation and collaboration that allow for reaching consensus and contributing proposals to address the challenges facing the region.
