SANTO DOMINGO.- The executive director of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT), Juan Manuel Méndez García, held a meeting with representatives of organizations in the transportation sector, during which he announced the creation of a commission to review pending files and evaluate situations that can be regularized in accordance with legal provisions.
Méndez García indicated that the commission will be responsible for analyzing each file and verifying whether it meets the requirements established in the regulations.
“We are going to start working with the files, reviewing them and verifying which ones are within the law. Our intention is to find solutions,” the official said.
He also asked the participating confederations and organizations to appoint a delegate to represent them before the commission and to follow up on the corresponding cases.
The chief executive explained that he decided to halt the signing of certain files until they are reviewed by the commission, as part of a process aimed at ensuring that decisions are made in accordance with the regulatory framework.
It warns about improper charges
During the meeting, Méndez García stated that INTRANT will not allow any type of charge or undue remuneration in exchange for the processing or approval of licenses, permits or other services that correspond to users.
In that regard, he noted that the procedures must be carried out through the established institutional channels.
He proposes to maintain dialogue with transport operators
The head of INTRANT also highlighted the importance of maintaining direct communication with transport organizations to address conflicts and situations that may arise.
He indicated that the intention is to prevent problems from escalating when they can be resolved through dialogue between the parties.
Méndez García expressed his willingness to listen to the various sectors and establish monitoring mechanisms, as well as periodic meetings to evaluate pending cases and seek solutions within the legal framework.
The meeting is part of the dialogue between INTRANT and organizations linked to land transport, with an emphasis on reviewing pending processes and compliance with the regulations governing the sector.
