The online sales platform Amazon represents a great opportunity for companies in the Dominican Republic, becoming a way to sell throughout the United States and other parts of the world. “Dominican exports have increased in volume and value, but the truth is that the electronic channel has a lot of potential and is being underutilized by our companies,” said Celso Juan Marranzini, president of the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD), today.

A judge in Santiago imposed 18 months of pretrial detention on a teacher accused of sexually assaulting 11 students, a female teacher, and a custodian at the Ana Antonia Grullón High School in the community of Guayabal, in the municipality of Puñal, Santiago province. The teacher, José Antonio Grullón Polanco, 43, was sent by Judge Estephanie Santiago to the Rafey Men's Correctional and Rehabilitation Center to serve his sentence.
Prices for premium and regular gasoline remain frozen
For the week of May 7-13, gasoline and diesel prices will remain frozen, while aviation fuel and kerosene increased between RD$21.68 and RD$23.50. Premium gasoline will continue to sell for RD$293.60 per gallon, while regular gasoline will cost RD$274.50 per gallon. Regular diesel will maintain its price at RD$221.60 per gallon. Similarly, premium diesel will remain at RD$241.10 per gallon. Aviation fuel saw an increase of RD$21.68 to a cost of RD$298.91 per gallon, and kerosene rose RD$23.50 to RD$338.10 per gallon.

Seven arrested for David's murder, including four police officers
The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District received a request for pretrial detention against seven individuals implicated in the death of David de los Santos, including the four police officers responsible for the young man's custody on the day he was arrested and taken to the Ensanche Naco police station in the capital. Another person injured in the Canal del Sol fire has died; the death toll now stands at 4
The last remaining patient in the Burn Unit of Ney Arias Lora Hospital, a victim of the fire at Canal del Sol on Tuesday, April 26, died early Friday morning. The deceased was Germán Rodríguez, 56, who died at 2:00 a.m. from multiple organ failure, according to Dr. Eddy Bruno, director of the Burn Unit at Ney Arias Lora Hospital.
