SANTO DOMINGO.-The hotel sector in Greater Santo Domingo closed last November with an occupancy rate of 70%, surpassing that of 2019 and continuing the favorable trend of recovery, said Yudit García, president of the Santo Domingo Hotel Association (AHSD), yesterday.
He added that the improvement in Santo Domingo hotels has not only been in occupancy, but also in the events sector, which is the strong point in the Dominican capital.
“The capital city has been recovering very well. We feel very positive and hopeful that the favorable trend will continue in the sector in 2022,” he said.
He explained that the AHSD works very closely with the different public-private partnerships that the authorities and the tourism cluster of Santo Domingo have.
“Strategies that allow us to continue leveraging our Santo Domingo destination,” he stated.
García, who noted that the Santo Domingo hotel market remains primarily corporate, added that this year has seen a bit of everything. He also mentioned that Santo Domingo will host the Accessible Tourism Summit in mid-2022.
