SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close various overpasses, including bridges and elevated sections, located in Greater Santo Domingo from Monday, February 5th until Saturday, February 10th, in order to carry out maintenance work.
In all cases, closure times are from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day. Some structures will be completely closed, while others will have partial closures.
The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control and washing of the "New Jersey" type central wall of the Las Américas highway.
This Monday and until Wednesday, the closures correspond to the overpasses of Konrad Adenauer Avenue with Hermanas Mirabal, in Santo Domingo Norte
On Monday, the closures apply to the underpasses or dry bridges of Mirador Sur Avenue with Italia, Núñez de Cáceres with Cayetano Germosén, Núñez with Independencia, Núñez with George Washington, Jacobo Majluta with La Isabela road, the Núñez de Cáceres tunnel, the Jacobo Majluta bridge over the Isabela River, the Duarte highway overpasses with Los Beisbolistas Avenue (Manoguayabo), and Duarte with Monumental (Los Girasoles).
On Tuesday, the following overpasses will be completely closed: Luperón Avenue at 30 de Mayo, Winston Churchill Avenue at John F. Kennedy Avenue (Southwest), Kennedy Avenue at Winston Churchill Avenue (East-South), Charles de Gaulle Avenue at the San Isidro Highway, and Charles de Gaulle Avenue at Carretera Mella. The central "New Jersey" wall of the Las Américas Tunnel between Venezuela Avenue and Sabana Larga Avenue, up to the San Isidro Highway, will also be closed.
This Wednesday and until Friday the closure affects the overpass of 27 de Febrero.
Also, the Ortega y Gasset and 27 de Febrero overpasses, the Máximo Gómez and Juan Pablo Duarte overpasses, the 27 de Febrero and Ortega y Gasset overpasses, the 27 de Febrero (lower area, metal part), and Gasset overpasses, the Máximo Gómez and Nicolás de Ovando overpasses, the Ozama and Gregorio Luperón bridges, and the Ortega y Gasset tunnel (UASD).
On Thursday, the closures affect the overpasses of the Sánchez highway with Independencia (kilometer 12), the Quinto Centenario Expressway with Duarte Avenue, with Hermanos Pinzón Street, and with San Martín, the Jacobo Majluta bridge (next entrance to Guaricano), and the overpass of Konrad Adenauer Avenue (Charles De Gaulle) with Hermanas Mirabal.
This Friday there will be closures at the overpasses or dry bridges at kilometer 13 with Prolongación 27, kilometer 13 with Duarte Highway and República de Colombia, kilometer 14 of the Duarte Highway, Padre Castellanos with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, the Francisco del Rosario Sánchez and Ramón Matías Mella bridges, the Duarte Highway overpass with Duarte Street (Los Alcarrizos), the 6 de Noviembre Highway and Carretera Sánchez.
On Saturday, the following closures will take place: John F. Kennedy Expressway with Luperón (Kilometer 9), kilometer 13 of the Duarte highway with Prolongación 27, kilometer 13 of the Duarte highway with República de Colombia, kilometer 14 with Duarte, and San Vicente de Paul with Venezuela.
Also, on Saturday the Ortega y Gasset Tunnel Control Center (UASD), the Las Américas Tunnel Control Center, and the 27 de Febrero Tunnel Control Center with Churchill and Lincoln will be closed.
