The measure will allow the MV Sabre Spirit to depart from the Joseph Industrial Development Corp. SRL shipyard; authorities recommend using alternate bridges to avoid delays
SANTO DOMINGO.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that this Saturday, October 24, it will temporarily close the Floating Bridge over the Ozama River, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., to allow the passage of a vessel.
The institution explained that the interruption of vehicular traffic is due to the departure of the MV Sabre Spirit from the facilities of the Joseph Industrial Development Corp. SRL Shipyard.
According to the MOPC announcement, the closure will last for two hours, during which time traffic will be suspended on this structure that connects the National District with the Villa Duarte sector, in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este.
In that regard, the authorities urged drivers to take the necessary precautions and plan their journeys in advance, in order to reduce the inconveniences that the temporary interruption may cause.
They recommend using alternative bridges
In anticipation of the scheduled closure, the Ministry of Public Works recommended that citizens use the Matías Ramón Mella, Juan Pablo Duarte, and Juan Bosch bridges as alternative routes to travel between the National District and Santo Domingo East.
Likewise, these lanes may be used in both directions of traffic while the vessel's exit maneuver is taking place.
The measure aims to facilitate the safe passage of the MV Sabre Spirit through the Ozama River, so drivers are urged to pay attention to the instructions of the authorities and consider the established schedule when planning their journeys.
