Daniel Sánchez Perea: “The Dominican Republic is my home and that of my family”

SANTO DOMINGO- Since arriving in the Dominican Republic, Daniel Sánchez Perea has built a story that combines professional growth and personal roots, with a career linked to tourism and real estate development, sectors in which he has accumulated experience since taking his first job opportunity in the country.

Sánchez Perea arrived in the country in 2007 through a job opportunity planned for a short period of time. What began as a professional project turned into almost two decades of life on Caribbean soil, where he started a family and has developed a distinguished career in the tourism and real estate sectors.

His arrival was linked to the hotel sector with Grupo Piñero, a Spanish family tourism company, which has a significant presence in the hotel and real estate market, both locally and internationally, which he says was a very educational experience about the industry and the market.

He recalls arriving during the summer season to work as the assistant finance director of the Bahia Principe hotels in Punta Cana. “I came thinking it would be a project for a couple of years, but almost 20 years later, here I am, with two children and a Dominican wife,” says the current finance director of Gesproin Group, a company that develops tourism and real estate projects in the eastern region.

What has changed in the Dominican Republic in 19 years? For Sánchez Perea, the answer is that the Dominican Republic has evolved a great deal during this time, considering its firm commitment to tourism which, in his opinion, has allowed the country's main destination, Punta Cana, to expand and improve the quality of life of its inhabitants and visitors.

He worked from a very young age

The executive recounts that his childhood in Barcelona, Spain, took place in a city that at that time was celebrating the Olympic Games, which made it a vibrant space with international projection.

He entered the workforce at a very young age, in the family business. “During the summers I helped my father in his textile company. That experience allowed me to learn from an early age the value of work and responsibility,” he says.

This Barcelona native truly enjoys seeing the results of a job well done. He firmly believes that excellence should be an essential value. What doesn't he like about this type of work? To which he replies: "For good days to exist, we must know what bad days are. They simply happen, and we try to learn from them.".

His philosophy, based on commitment and good practices, leads him to say that there is nothing he regrets in his career, because he always acts in a way that avoids regretting what he does.

Family, the true luxury

For Daniel Sánchez Perea, true luxury is being able to spend time with family, doing activities together, not missing a school activity or a game of the children, noting that this model has become the true definition of luxury today.

Dominican attraction

The warmth of its people is the main quality he values about the country, highlighting their acceptance of foreigners who set foot on its soil. “Dominicans accept you as one of their family from the very first moment. It’s something unique in the world,” he emphasizes.

Therefore, he states that, for the moment, the Dominican Republic is his home and that of his family.
