SANTO DOMINGO. – The Santo Domingo East City Hall invited the entire community to enjoy the “Santo Domingo East Pedestrian Walk” event, which will take place this Sunday, November 17, on Venezuela Avenue, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., as part of a plan designed to promote healthy family interaction.
The event will take place from Club Activo 20-30 Street to Club Rotario Street and will feature a series of cultural and recreational activities, a children's show, a magic show, artistic performances, living statues, and many more surprises. Over 300 municipal police officers will be on hand to ensure the event's safety.
Mayor Dío Astacio expressed his enthusiasm for this program and highlighted the importance of creating open spaces, valuable spaces, safe and dynamic spaces where healthy entertainment and inclusion for the community are promoted.
“We want the families of Santo Domingo Este to enjoy their city, to take advantage of these moments to share in a civic and orderly manner. This central avenue will become a pedestrian zone so that residents and visitors can walk, run, walk their pets, and ride bicycles in a safe, vehicle-free environment,” the mayor stated.
This pilot program is part of a plan by the Mayor's office to make the city pedestrian-friendly for residents and tourists attending the event.
“This is the first version and every month we will have a similar event in other spaces of the municipality, such as Avenida España and Avenida del Faro,” the mayor said.
This event has the integration and support of the various departments that make up the Santo Domingo East City Hall. The City Hall extends a warm invitation to all families to join this great initiative and enjoy a day full of fun, health, and community on the iconic Avenida Venezuela.
