SANTO DOMINGO- From ten o'clock at night until five in the morning, from yesterday Monday until next Saturday the tenth of this month, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close vehicular traffic in tunnels and overpasses located in the National District and the province of Santo Domingo, to carry out maintenance on them.
According to the government entity that handles these tasks, the work consists of solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, among others.
Today, Tuesday, the overpasses of Luperón with the 30 de Mayo highway and of the Duarte highway with Beisbolistas Avenue (entrance to Manoguayabo) will be closed in both directions, while in one direction the closure will apply to the underpasses of Jacobo Majluta with La Isabela road, and Reyes Católicos Avenue with Zoo Avenue.
The Ortega y Gasset Tunnel Operational Control Center will be closed today, Tuesday, and tomorrow, Wednesday
“This Monday the closures correspond to the Núñez de Cáceres tunnel, in both directions; the dry bridges of Mirador Sur Avenue with Italia, of Núñez de Cáceres with Cayetano Germosén and with George Washington; of John F. Kennedy Avenue with Luperón (Km 9),” the agency indicated in a statement.
From Monday to Friday, the maintenance closure will be for the V Centenario Expressway with Duarte Avenue, partial closure.
“Also, the Duarte Highway overpass with entrance to Los Alcarrizos; the Duarte Highway overpass with Prolongación 27 de Febrero (in one direction); and in both directions the Duarte Highway overpass with entrance to Los Alcarrizos, the Mella and Sánchez bridges (over the Ozama River), as well as the dry bridge of Padre Castellanos with Avenida Francisco del Rosario Sánchez,” he stated.
Wednesday
The statement indicates that on Wednesday there will be closures in both directions on the 27 de Febrero overpass at Ortega y Gasset; the underpasses at 27 de Febrero and Máximo Gómez, 27 de Febrero and Tiradentes, Km 14 of the Duarte highway, 25 de Febrero avenue at San Vicente de Paul, and the latter at the Las Américas highway, Marginal Las Américas Oeste at 25 de Febrero; the highway to San Isidro at the Las Américas highway, and the dry bridge at 25 de Febrero at the highway to San Isidro.
Thursday
On Thursday, the elevated sections of the Sánchez highway with Independencia Avenue (Km 12), and the overpasses of the V Centenario Expressway with Tunti Cáceres and Peña Batlle streets will be in operation.
“Similarly, the Charles de Gaulle intersection with the San Isidro highway and the Charles de Gaulle intersection with the Mella highway, and the V Centenario overpass with San Martín Avenue,” the institution explained.
Friday
On Friday, work will be carried out on the bridges of the 6 de Noviembre highway and Sánchez road, the V Centenario overpasses with Duarte Avenue and Hermanos Pinzón, the Las Américas tunnel, the control centers of the Ortega y Gasset (UASD), Las Américas, 27 de Febrero with Churchill and Lincoln tunnels.
Saturday
On Saturday, the following overpasses will be closed: 27 de Febrero with Defilló, Carmen Mendoza, and Núñez de Cáceres, Kennedy with Máximo Gómez, the Ozama bridge (total closure), and the Las Américas tunnel operational control center (no closure required).
