This is what the weather will be like this weekend, according to Indomet

Friday and Saturday will be predominantly hot with isolated showers, while on Sunday rainfall will increase in several provinces

SANTO DOMINGO.– The weekend will begin with hot temperatures and some passing rain in different areas of the country, according to the forecast issued by the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), which also predicts an increase in instability towards Sunday.

According to the agency's report, on Friday, warm east/southeast winds and a weak trough will cause scattered showers from the early morning hours and throughout the morning over locations on the Caribbean coast and the northeast region.

Friday with isolated showers in the afternoon

According to Indomet, during the afternoon, daytime heating and the effects of the mountains will favor increased cloud cover with local downpours, possible thunderstorms and isolated gusts of wind towards provinces of the Northwest Line, the Cibao Valley, the Central Mountain Range and some points of the southwest.

The agency indicated that these rains could extend into the early hours of the night in some locations.

Saturday will remain hot with scattered showers

For Saturday, the agency forecasts similar conditions, with passing showers in the morning over towns near the Caribbean coast.

In the afternoon, local downpours, isolated thunderstorms, and gusts of wind would again occur over northeastern provinces, the Central Mountain Range, the Northwest Line, and the Cibao Valley, influenced by the trough and high temperatures.

Sunday with a more unstable atmosphere

According to the forecast, humidity and instability will increase across the country on Sunday due to the influence of a trough and the passage of a tropical wave south of the country.

Indomet explained that these conditions will favor moderate to heavy downpours, thunderstorms and gusts of wind over provinces in the southeast, northeast, southwest, Central Mountain Range and border areas.

Temperatures will remain high

The weather agency warned that temperatures will remain quite hot throughout the weekend, with highs that could reach between 31°C and 35°C in different provinces.

Given this, he recommended drinking plenty of fluids, wearing light clothing, and avoiding prolonged sun exposure, especially for children and the elderly, who are considered more vulnerable to high temperatures.
