The recently concluded Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange “DATE 2023” tourism marketing fair served as the stage for the announcement of the construction of five new hotels by the Best Westerns and Hyatt Inclusive Collection hotel chains.
The Date 2023 trade fair also served as a platform to announce the renovation of two other hotels that will be modernized and operated under new brands.
It was reported that Hyatt will develop two new projects in Playa Esmeralda, Miches: Secrets Playa Esmeralda and Dreams Playa Esmeralda, with a US$400 million investment, adding 1,000 rooms to the hotel offering. Of these, 750 will be rooms and suites, and 250 will be exclusive to Preferred Club guests.
According to the details provided, Secrets Playa Esmeralda will be for adults only and will feature four bars, four snack bars and an exclusive lounge for Preferred Club members, while Dreams Playa Esmeralda will be for families and will offer three snack bars, four bars, a Preferred Club lounge, an Explorer's Club area with activities for children aged 3 to 12, and The Core Zone and a club with entertainment for young people between 13 and 17 years old.
In addition, Hyatt announced that the Be Live Collection Punta Cana, Be Live Collection Punta Cana adults only and Be Live Collection Canoa hotels of the Globalia Group will be renovated and will be operated under the Sunscape Resorts & Spas brand.
These new projects from the Dreams and Secrets brands, along with the Be Live hotels, will add to the existing 5,000 rooms for a total of 7,500 rooms across the different Hyatt brands in the Dominican Republic.
Other hotels
Meanwhile, Best Westerns, together with the Dominican company Neon Lights Estate, will invest US$75 million in the construction of three hotels in Puerto Plata, Cabeza de Toro (Punta Cana) and on the Juan Dolio Boulevard, San Pedro de Macorís.
The first of these establishments, a Best Westerns Plus, will be built in Puerto Plata (North coast), near the Gregorio Luperón Airport.
This hotel will have 92 rooms and is designed for business travelers, with an event hall, gym, laundry facilities, and a dining room.
According to reports, the work will begin as soon as the necessary procedures are completed in the different state agencies, which are already well underway.
