In light of the recent May 1st, I'd like to reflect on the essence of this important day: Labor Day is celebrated every year in the Dominican Republic and around the world. It's a date that commemorates and honors the work we do every day to improve our environment, our society, and, of course, our professional lives.
As I see it, it's a complete win-win situation; however, the path has not always been easy, and, in fact, today there is still much to be done to improve workers' rights in terms of fair conditions and equal opportunities (however, I will not go into detail on this point for now).
Returning to the context of the commemoration of Labor Day, I would like to comment on the role that the corporate real estate sector plays in the country's economy and in the lives of those of us who collaborate and work in it.
Understanding that the corporate sector encompasses those companies that are dedicated to the construction and management of commercial properties, such as offices, shopping centers, hotels, manufacturing and logistics companies, it is therefore one of the most important sectors of the Dominican economy, as it not only generates direct and indirect jobs, but also contributes to the urban and economic development of the country.
It is important to highlight the role that workers in the real estate sector play in the Dominican economy, as they are also responsible for building and maintaining the buildings, warehouses, and commercial and corporate spaces that make possible the development of a wide variety of companies and businesses, and thus contribute to the growth of the country.
Likewise, workers in the corporate real estate sector are also responsible for ensuring that commercial and corporate spaces meet the safety and quality standards necessary to protect the life and health of those who use them; which implies a high degree of professionalism and dedication.
It is for this reason that on this Labor Day it is important to recognize and value the work done by all workers and, from my space of reflection, I want to congratulate all my colleagues and especially those who are members of the Association of Real Estate Companies #AEI, the workers of the corporate real estate sector in the Dominican Republic, because although their work often goes unnoticed, without them it would not be possible to have the commercial and corporate spaces necessary for the economic development of the country.
