Reyna Echenique wins the presidency of the AEI; she promises to promote real estate regulation and strengthen the institutional framework of the association

He presented an agenda for his first 100 days in office, which includes a technical proposal for regulations, the establishment of support committees, and accountability

SANTO DOMINGO.- Reyna Echenique won the presidency of the Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies (AEI) this Monday, for the period 2026-2028, with the commitment to promote the regulation of the sector, strengthen legal security and consolidate the unity of the guild.

During her inaugural address, she announced that she would continue the entity's legislative agenda, with particular attention to the approval of the Real Estate Brokerage and Advertising Law. She also highlighted the importance of initiatives related to the Property Registry, off-plan sales, and condominiums.

Regarding the guidelines for his administration, he explained that it will be based on five principles: evolutionary continuity, institutionality, unity, sectoral alliance, and legal certainty.

Referring to the development of this economic activity, Echenique argued that its growth should not be measured exclusively by the volume of sales, but also by the professionalization of its actors, respect for the work of the agents, the protection of consumers and the incorporation of legal certainty as part of the culture of the sector.

Therefore, it considered it necessary for the AEI to assume an active role in the regulatory changes that affect the real estate market and to contribute with proposals aimed at improving its functioning.

Work agenda for the first 100 days

As part of her initial commitments, the head of the AEI announced that, during her first 30 days, she will implement an institutional compliance agenda. This will include promoting a Criminal Compliance Program for the association, as well as training initiatives and tools for its members.

He also announced that he will establish support committees, including the Legal and Fiscal Advisory Committee, and will activate the Advisory Council of Past Presidents. With this measure, he seeks to leverage the experience of those who have led the institution and strengthen decision-making.

Union plans

In the area of union participation, Echenique's plan includes enabling new communication channels through the AEI Cerca de Ti initiative, promoting the Santo Domingo Este delegation, and restructuring AEI Mujeres to expand female integration in the sector.

These actions will be complemented by the resumption of meetings with the National Congress, with the purpose of continuing efforts to regulate real estate activity.

Furthermore, between days 60 and 100 of his term, Echenique plans to develop a technical proposal for regulations that will allow him to anticipate the eventual approval of the Real Estate Intermediation and Advertising Law.

He also announced the first AEI event, which leaves footprints, an initiative aimed at extending the organization's commitment beyond commercial activity and contributing with social impact actions.

As part of her commitment to transparency, the president assured that, at the end of the first 100 days, she will present a report on the actions taken and the results obtained.

He calls for unity and integration within the union

During his speech, Echenique urged the members of the association to put aside the differences that arose during the election campaign and work together for common goals.

“From this moment on, there are no longer two teams. There is only one Association. One single AEI. One single union,” he stated.

In line with this approach, he stated that his administration would serve all agents, brokers, and affiliated companies without distinction or exclusion. Furthermore, he emphasized that the professional capabilities of the members should take precedence over any electoral differences.

He acknowledges the outgoing administration and promises transparency

The new president of the AEI also acknowledged the work of the Electoral Commission, headed by Ilonka Castillo de Cestti, as well as that of the colleagues who presented alternative proposals. She also thanked the outgoing board, of which she was a member as secretary.

In particular, he highlighted the work of former president Alberto Bogaert and valued the progress achieved during his administration as a starting point to continue strengthening the association.

Finally, Echenique reiterated his intention to maintain an administration that is close to, open to dialogue and receptive to the concerns of its members, so that they can actively participate in institutional decisions.

In closing his speech, he expressed his willingness to defend the interests of the union with humility, responsibility and determination, while calling for the commitments made to be turned into concrete results.
