SANTO DOMINGO.– The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that from Monday night, September 26, until Saturday, October 1, it will close various overpasses (including tunnels and elevated sections) located in the National District and the province of Santo Domingo to vehicular traffic in order to carry out maintenance work.
The hours in each case are from 10:00 at night to 5:00 the following morning.
In both the upper and lower areas, the work to be carried out consists of solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, among others.
Last night, Monday, there was a total closure of the overpass on 27 de Febrero Avenue, the Juan Bosch bridge, and the Ortega y Gasset tunnel (UASD).
Today, Tuesday, the following will be closed: the Ortega y Gasset tunnel (UASD), the Ortega y Gasset overpass with 27 de Febrero, John F. Kennedy Avenue with Máximo Gómez, the Kennedy overpass with Ortega y Gasset, and the Duarte bridge.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, the following overpasses will be closed: Las Américas with Route 66 South-East, Las Américas with Avenida Hípica, Las Américas with José Francisco Peña Gómez (Boca Chica), Las Américas with Puerto Caucedo Highway (Caucedo), Las Américas with Route 66 East-South, and Las Américas with Calle 7/6 La Caleta.
Also at the Ortega y Gasset tunnel control center (UASD), and Las Américas control center, the Jubey-Boca Chica road overpass (dry bridge), the Santo Domingo-Samaná highway overpass.
On Thursday, the following bridges will be closed: Gregorio Luperón, Francisco J. Peynado, the Kennedy overpasses with Lope de Vega and Tiradentes, Kennedy with Abraham Lincoln; the 27 de Febrero with Núñez de Cáceres, 27 de Febrero with Doctor Defilló and Carmen Mendoza underpasses, and the 27 de Febrero with Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill tunnel.
Friday's schedule includes the tunnel at 27 de Febrero with Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill, the overpasses at kilometer 21 of the Duarte highway (towards Mercadom Santo Domingo), Duarte with Sánchez street (Piedra Blanca de Bonao), the overpasses at 25 de Febrero with Avenida España (dry bridge), 25 de Febrero with Faro a Colón (dry bridge), and the floating bridge.
On Saturday, the following overpasses will be closed: 27 de Febrero with Privada, Plaza de la Bandera, Reyes Católicos with Respaldo 42 street (dry bridge), Reyes Católicos near Ramón Cáceres avenue (dry bridge), and the Ortega y Gasset tunnel control center (UASD).
