The meeting will bring together engineers, architects, and construction companies to explain the opportunities for participation in the works and infrastructure projects that the municipality will promote next year
SANTO DOMINGO.– The Santo Domingo East City Hall invited engineers, architects, construction companies and engineering firms from the municipality to participate in an explanatory meeting about the 2026 Municipal Participatory Budget (PPM), an initiative that seeks to integrate the construction sector into the development and infrastructure projects that will be carried out in the district.
The event, which will be led by Mayor Dío Astacio, will take place next Friday, June 12, at 3:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Municipal Palace, where the authorities will present the guidelines, scope, and opportunities for participation related to the works included in the program.
An approach to the construction sector
According to the announcement made by the city council through its social media, the meeting aims to strengthen the link between the municipal administration and the actors in the construction sector, considered key players for the execution of projects aimed at improving the urban infrastructure of Santo Domingo East.
The meeting is aimed at professionals and companies established in the municipality, who will be able to learn firsthand about the criteria that will govern the planning and execution of the works planned for next year.
The initiative is part of the current administration's efforts to promote greater collaboration between the local government and the private sector in the development of infrastructure projects, according to the report.
What is PPM?
The Municipal Participatory Budget is one of the main local investment mechanisms contemplated in Dominican legislation.
Through this instrument, municipalities allocate a portion of their resources to projects prioritized by the communities themselves through consultation processes and citizen participation.
Its objective is to allow residents to identify the most urgent needs of their sectors and participate in defining the projects that will be funded with municipal funds.
The works that are usually financed
Through the Municipal Participatory Budget, community infrastructure projects aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens are usually implemented.
Among the most frequent initiatives are the construction and repair of sidewalks and curbs, stormwater drainage systems, lighting of public spaces, parks, sports facilities, community centers and sanitation works.
These projects represent a constant source of opportunities for professionals, contractors, and companies linked to the construction sector.
Santo Domingo East and its development agenda
The call comes at a time when Santo Domingo Este is promoting various projects aimed at strengthening its urban infrastructure and developing the so-called Lighthouse Coast, a strategy promoted by the municipal administration to boost the economic, tourist and urban growth of the area.
In this context, the Mayor's Office seeks to involve the municipality's technical and business stakeholders in the initiatives that will be part of next year's planning.
The city council indicated that the participation of the construction sector will be fundamental to continue promoting the transformation of Santo Domingo East and guaranteeing the efficient execution of the works contemplated within the PPM 2026.
“Your participation is fundamental to continue building the future of Santo Domingo Este together,” the institution stated in the invitation addressed to professionals and companies in the area.
