SANTO DOMINGO.– Sustainable construction in the country is growing every day, with increasingly attractive initiatives; however, it is necessary to join forces to manage a much more compact and efficient project lifecycle, says environmental specialist Felipe Beltrán.
He understands that companies' motivation is growing every day, because they see that being sustainable is profitable for companies, and it also adds value to their services.
The expert understands that to raise awareness about sustainable development, the government needs to make a greater effort by allocating more investment to environmental education.
Beltrán is the president of Ecoservices Dominicana, a company with more than ten years in the Dominican market offering environmental solutions, focused on recycling, waste management, consulting and environmental education.
Beltrán understands that the Dominican Republic is taking steps to raise awareness among the population about the importance of sustainable development, but it needs to take steps with much more firmness and vision.
The expert assures that currently in the country up to 30% of the waste produced can be recycled directly, if audit and consulting programs with environmental and sustainable purchasing policies are followed.
"A target of up to 60 or 70% recovery of waste can be set to incorporate it into a circular economy and serve as new raw material," the expert explains.
