SANTO DOMINGO. The Ministry of Labor announced the dates for the holidays during the year 2022, complying with Law 139-97, which establishes the transfer of holidays.
The aforementioned law of June 19, 1997, regarding the transfer to Mondays of holidays that coincide with Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays, was published in the Official Gazette No. 9957 on June 25, 1997 and came into force on the 27th of the same month and year, therefore, in accordance with the provisions of Dominican legislation, it must be applied in all establishments in the country.
This is how the 2022 holidays look:
Saturday, January 1st, the date of the New Year celebration, will not be changed.
Thursday, January 6th, Three Kings Day, is a work day and is moved to Monday, January 10th.
Friday, January 21st, the day of Our Lady of Altagracia, will not be changed.
Wednesday, January 26, the date on which the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte is commemorated, is a work day and is changed to Monday, January 24.
Sunday, February 27th, National Independence Day is fixed.
Friday, April 15, Good Friday, a religious holiday commemorating the death of Jesus Christ, will not be moved.
Sunday, May 1st, Labor Day, its non-working status, is changed to Monday, May 2nd.
Thursday, June 16, the day on which the religious festival of Corpus Christi is celebrated, will not be changed.
Tuesday, August 16, the day of the Restoration of the Republic, in accordance with Article 35 of the Constitution and Judgment No. 14 of 20/02/2008 of the Supreme Court of Justice, is not changed.
Saturday, September 24, the day of Our Lady of Mercy, and Sunday, November 6, Constitution Day, will be celebrated on their corresponding dates.
Sunday, December 25, Christmas Day or the birth of Jesus, is not changed.
