The electoral body added 38 more voter registration centers in different municipalities across the country, in addition to those already existing, to expand the coverage of the process
SANTO DOMINGO.- Renewing the new national identity card will be easier from now on, after the Central Electoral Board (JCE) decided to eliminate restrictions based on birth month during weekends and holidays at numerous registration centers in the country.
The decision, approved by the Plenary of the electoral body, seeks to expedite the process and make it easier for people who, due to work or time constraints, cannot go from Monday to Friday, to have a new opportunity to complete the procedure.
The JCE also reported that all citizens aged 70 or older will be able to renew their document regardless of their birth month and will be served immediately at any authorized registration center nationwide.
More facilities for those who have not yet renewed
As part of the measures, the electoral body incorporated another 38 registration centers in different municipalities of the country, which are added to those already existing to expand the coverage of the process.
At these locations, citizens born between January and the current month can visit from Monday to Friday during regular hours, while on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays there will be no restrictions based on date of birth.
The expansion includes municipalities such as Bayaguana, Constanza, Jarabacoa, Miches, Sosúa, Villa Altagracia, Villa González, Tamboril, San José de las Matas and Yamasá, among others.
Some centers will maintain their current format
The institution specified that certain offices will continue to operate under the usual service scheme.
These include centers located in Galería 360, Sambil, Plaza Central, Megacentro, Coral Mall, Bella Vista Mall, UASD, as well as several offices in Santiago, Higüey, San Cristóbal and the Board's headquarters.
