VERÓN, PUNTA CANA.-The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, inaugurated the reconstruction work on the access road to Macao Beach, in this tourist destination in the East of the country, with an investment of 36 million pesos.
The project, which is being carried out through the Executive Committee for Infrastructure of Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR) of MITUR, consists of the road improvement of 1.2 km of El Macao street, from the Higüey-Macao road, to the access that leads to the beach, in the municipal district of Verón, Punta Cana.
The Minister of Tourism stated that this project addresses a long-standing demand from residents of this tourist area and said that the work will have a significant economic impact on small and medium-sized businesses.
“For us, the most important thing in small projects like this is the impact they have on the people who work here. It directly improves their income, which translates into a better quality of life for them and their families. That is the human face of tourism,” he emphasized.
The scope of the reconstruction of the access road to Macao Beach includes: recovery of the road structure, placement of asphalt surface layer, construction of sidewalks and curbs, creation of rainwater drainage with a system of catch basins and filter wells, landscaping, signage and creation of green areas.
The proposed intervention consists of a typical section of two traffic lanes of 3.00m each, placement of asphalt pavement, shaping of sidewalks, curbs as part of the solution that form the longitudinal drainage, a strip for a 1.50m wide planter on the left side, oak trees and ground cover.
In addition to Minister Collado, the event was attended by the Deputy Ministers of MITUR; Gabriel Español Seijas, Director of CEIZTUR; local and municipal authorities, among other personalities.
