SANTO DOMINGO- The RD Vial Trust announced this Wednesday the launch of the National Toll Station Remodeling Program, called Paso Nuevo, an initiative aimed at modernizing and optimizing toll infrastructure throughout the country.
The Trust's CEO, Hostos Rizik Lugo, emphasized that the program prioritizes strengthening operations and incorporating new technologies, with the aim of providing users with a more agile and efficient transit experience.
The Paso Nuevo program will begin with the remodeling of the Coral 1, Coral 2, La Romana, Catey 2, El Naranjal, Mar Bella, Guaraguao, CSD Section 2B and Las Américas toll stations.
The work will be carried out by the VSMAGON Consortium, Macuri Group, and Civil Group SRL, and will include the refurbishment of canopies, islands, and access points, ensuring a modern and functional infrastructure. Additionally, work will be done on the administrative offices, metal structures will be repaired, and delineators and Jersey barriers will be acquired for all operating stations.
In addition to the transformation of the toll stations, Rizik Lugo has arranged for the expansion of the maintenance program on the main roads near the tolls, with cleaning, solid waste collection, weed control and waste management, among other actions.
Currently, the Trust Director is visiting the 16 toll stations operated by RD Vial nationwide, monitoring compliance with efficiency and maintenance.
“We will continue to promote major projects for the benefit of all Dominicans, thanks to the funds collected from tolls,” said Rizik Lugo. He also announced that “major transformations are coming to the toll system in the Dominican Republic, always for the benefit of users.”.
Currently, RD Vial is in the final stage of construction of the new Duarte toll facilities, at Km 32, and the Ecology Avenue in Santo Domingo East, which will be put into operation in the coming days.
