SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close vehicular traffic, starting this Monday night, August 7, and until Saturday, August 12, at various overpasses and bridges scattered throughout Greater Santo Domingo, in order to carry out maintenance work.
The work includes solid waste collection, sweeping and debris removal, weed control, general cleaning, and drainage, among other tasks. The closing time will be from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day.
From Monday to Friday there will be a partial closure on the Jacobo Majluta bridge, due to the application of paint to elements.
Maintenance will be performed on the Control Center of the Ortega y Gasset-UASD Avenue tunnel on Monday and Tuesday. This work will not require a closure.
On Monday night, the traffic closure includes the Núñez de Cáceres tunnel and Jacobo Majluta Avenue, the underpasses of Mirador Sur Avenue with Italia Avenue; Núñez de Cáceres Avenue with Cayetano Germosén Avenue, Independencia Avenue and George Washington Avenue; Jacobo Majluta Avenue with La Isabela Road, and the overpasses of the Duarte Highway with Los Beisbolistas and Monumental Avenues.
On Tuesday, there will be a complete closure of the overpasses at the intersection of Luperón Avenue and the 30 de Mayo Highway, Charles de Gaulle Avenue and the Mella Highway, and the San Isidro Highway. Additionally, the Duarte Highway will be closed at the intersection with Duarte Street, the intersection with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, República de Colombia Avenue, and at kilometer 14 (dry bridge).
On Wednesday, the overpasses at 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset, Máximo Gómez Avenue with Nicolás de Ovando and Duarte; the Núñez de Cáceres tunnel, and the Ozama and Gregorio Luperón bridges will be closed.
On Thursday night there will be a total closure of the overpasses on the Sánchez highway with Independencia Avenue, the Quinto Centenario Expressway with Duarte Avenue, San Martín and Hermanos Pinzón Street, the Konrad Adenauer underpass with Hermanas Mirabal and the bridge on Jacobo Majluta Avenue.
On Friday, work will be carried out on the overpasses at Padre Castellanos Avenue with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez Avenue, Prolongación 27 de Febrero with Autopista 6 de Noviembre, and the overpasses at John F. Kennedy Avenue with Winston Churchill Avenue (in both directions).
Also scheduled for Friday are the closure of the bridges on the 6 de Noviembre highway, the Sánchez road, Ramón Matías Mella and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez.
Electrical maintenance will also be performed on the control centers of the tunnels at Ortega y Gasset-UASD Avenue, Las Américas Avenue, and 27 de Febrero Avenue at the intersections with Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill Avenues. This work will not require any closures.
On Saturday there will be closures at the overpasses of San Vicente de Paúl with Venezuela, John F. Kennedy with Luperón Avenue (Kilometer 9), Duarte Highway with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, República de Colombia and at Kilometer 14.
