Public Works closes tunnels and overpasses for maintenance

SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close several overpasses in Greater Santo Domingo to vehicular traffic from Monday, April 10th until Saturday, April 15th, to carry out maintenance work.

The closures will take place from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day. The work includes solid waste collection, sweeping and debris removal, weed control, general cleaning of the surrounding area, and drainage, among other tasks.

Yesterday, Monday, the Juan Bosch and Duarte bridges, as well as the overpass on 27 de Febrero Avenue, were closed in both directions. 

Yesterday and today, Tuesday, the closure also affects the overpasses of Luperón Avenue with the 30 de Mayo highway, John F. Kennedy Avenue with Doctor Defilló Avenue, and the long tunnel of 27 de Febrero Avenue.

Today the underpasses at 27 de Febrero and Tiradentes, Kennedy and Máximo Gómez, the Kennedy overpass at Ortega y Gasset, and the Las Américas Avenue tunnel will also be closed.

For tomorrow, Wednesday, the closures include the underpasses of 27 de Febrero with Doctor Defilló and Carmen Mendoza de Cornielle; 27 de Febrero with Núñez de Cáceres; 27 de Febrero with Privada; the overpasses of Kennedy with Lope de Vega and Tiradentes, and Kennedy with Abraham Lincoln.

Also, the Francisco J. Peynado and Gregorio Luperón bridges, and the overpass on the Sánchez highway with Independencia Avenue (Kilometer 12).  

Also, from Wednesday through Friday, the Kennedy overpass at Núñez de Cáceres will be closed in both directions.

On Thursday, the following underpasses will be closed: 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset, 25 de Febrero with Avenida España; 25 de Febrero with Faro a Colón; 25 de Febrero with San Vicente de Paul; San Isidro with 25 de Febrero, Marginal Las Américas Oeste with 25 de Febrero; San Isidro with Las Américas, and Las Américas with Marginal Las Américas.  

Also, the overpass at 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset; Duarte highway with Sánchez street (Piedra Blanca, Bonao), the Floating Bridge; the central wall from the overpass at 27 de Febrero with Máximo Gómez; 27 with Tiradentes, up to the exit of the tunnel at 27 de Febrero between Lincoln and Churchill, total closure.

On Friday the 14th there will be a total closure on the Las Américas overpasses with Route 66 (East-South), Las Américas with Route 66 (South-West), Las Américas with Boca Chica, Las Américas with Hípica, and the Santo Domingo overpass towards Samaná.

Also, the overpasses of Las Américas with José Francisco Peña Gómez street (Boca Chica), Las Américas with Puerto Caucedo road (Caucedo), Las Américas with 7/6 La Caleta street, the Jubey-Boca Chica road overpass (dry bridge).

Additionally, there will be closures at the Ortega y Gasset Control Centers (UASD), the Las Américas tunnel with the Operational Control Center, and the 27 de Febrero tunnel between Lincoln and Churchill, due to electrical work.

This Saturday, the closures will be on the dry bridges of San Vicente with Venezuela, San Vicente with Las Américas, Plaza de la Bandera, Reyes Católicos with back 42, Reyes Católicos with Avenida Del Zoológico, Reyes Católicos near Avenida Ramón Cáceres, total closure.
