SANTO DOMINGO.- The legal advisor to the Executive Branch, Antoliano Peralta Romero, reported that President Luis Abinader issued Decree No. 403-25 this Friday , through which a new stage of protection, sustainable use and ecotourism development of the Cuevas de Borbón or del Pomier Anthropological Reserve, located in San Cristóbal, is promoted
With a view to the continuous strengthening of conservation efforts and responsible use of this important reserve, the decree instructs the coordination and installation of infrastructure for public use and ecotourism in its surroundings, always seeking to highlight and conserve the unique characteristics of this natural and cultural heritage.
To that end, President Abinader ordered the creation of the Presidential Commission for the Pomier Caves, which will be made up of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (Egehid), in addition to other members that the president designates.
The Commission will be responsible for coordinating the necessary actions for the installation of the required physical structures, always respecting the scientific, educational and cultural of the area, as well as its environmental value.
This effort is part of the Dominican Government's commitment to sustainability, heritage preservation , and the development of responsible ecotourism that strengthens national identity and opportunities for nearby communities.
