Popular receives an award from Grupo Piñero for its operational and sustainability support

PUNTA CANA, LA ALTAGRACIA PROVINCE. – Banco Popular Dominicano was awarded by the Piñero Group as one of the “Most Eco-Friendly Companies in the Dominican Republic,” an award from this hotel group that recognizes both the bank's support for its operations and the added value it brings to its development in terms of sustainability.

The first edition of the “Most Eco-Friendly” awards in the Dominican Republic took place within the framework of the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE) fair, with the purpose of recognizing the work of the national and international suppliers, collaborators and partners of Grupo Piñero who meet high quality standards and also raise awareness to act in favor of the preservation of the environment and the fight against the harmful effects of climate change.

The selection of the award winners was made by the Sustainability Division of Grupo Piñero.  

The award ceremony was attended by David Collado, Minister of Tourism, and Milagros Germán, Minister of Culture. Representing Banco Popular were René Grullón Finet, Senior Executive Vice President of National and International Business, and Juan Manuel Martín de Oliva, Vice President of the Tourism Business Area.

Deepening the sustainable vision

The award to Banco Popular was presented by Encarna Piñero, CEO of Grupo Piñero, and Isabel Piñero, Chief Sustainability Officer of the hotel company.

René Grullón Finet, Senior Executive Vice President of National and International Business, expressed his gratitude on behalf of Banco Popular and the honor it represents for the financial institution to receive such a distinction.

“At Banco Popular Dominicano, we understand that economic development must go hand in hand with environmental conservation. Therefore, from our sustainable vision, we have developed innovative products that promote a shift towards a production and consumption model with greater respect for the environment,” said Mr. Grullón Finet.

The CEO of Grupo Piñero congratulated the award winners and highlighted their exemplary commitment to sustainability and environmental preservation.

“In a world where environmental challenges are increasingly pressing, your work is not only admirable, but absolutely essential. You are proof that it is possible to achieve business success and social well-being without compromising our planet’s natural resources,” said Ms. Piñero

The Piñero Group manages more than 6,615 rooms in the country, distributed across 14 hotels.
