Popular and ADN renovate the Buenos Aires park at Mirador

 SANTO DOMINGO- Banco Popular Dominicano and the National District Mayor's Office (ADN) inaugurated the renovation of Buenos Aires del Mirador Park, located in the Independencia neighborhood. The comprehensive improvement of its various areas will directly benefit more than 5,000 residents and more than 25,000 people who live in the park's surrounding area.

Banco Popular contributed RD$20.2 million to the improvement of these facilities, which cover an area of ​​4,100 square meters. This is the ninth park that the bank has renovated in partnership with ADN, in a public-private collaboration that has promoted social well-being and sustainable development for thousands of families, fostering a more livable and healthy city, according to a press release.

José Mármol, Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications, Reputation and Responsible Banking at Grupo Popular, highlighted during the inauguration that the renovation of the Buenos Aires del Mirador park demonstrates "Banco Popular's commitment to generating shared value" for the benefit of people and their human, social and economic development.

“At Banco Popular, we understand that the true progress of a society is not measured solely in economic terms, but also in the quality of life of its citizens. Human development is the key element that allows us to continue progressing,” the bank executive stated.

For her part, the mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía, thanked Banco Popular for their commitment to this renovation project.

“Banco Popular is here because of its social responsibility and its enormous commitment to the true transformation of our city and our country,” said the mayor.

Meanwhile, Carmen Bautista, co-manager and president of the Buenos Aires del Mirador Neighborhood Association, expressed her gratitude for “the tremendous support that Banco Popular Dominicano has provided to the Buenos Aires del Mirador community. Their commitment to sustainable development and investment in social welfare are clear examples of what it means to be an institution that cares about the progress of our community.”.

Scope of the renovation

Engineer José Hernández, Vice President of the Engineering and Maintenance Area of ​​Popular, detailed the scope of the tasks carried out, which included security, infrastructure, sports areas, children's areas, lighting, landscaping and recycling of the park.

According to the bank, to offer an enhanced visitor experience, they replaced the perimeter fence with Eurolux panels, built new interior sidewalks, and repaired the exterior ones. In addition, the sports areas were renovated, including the basketball court, which now features new backboards and murals, and the mini-soccer field, which was equipped with a nylon mesh perimeter fence and new goals.

The children's area also received special attention, with the creation of a new inclusive play area for children of all ages, including those with disabilities.

Popular also renovated the park's gazebos, and one of them now features updated restrooms, an office, and a terrace for recreational activities. Additionally, they installed an automated LED lighting system and planted ornamental plants and natural dwarf grass to improve both the park's safety and aesthetics.

To promote sustainability and environmental education, recycling points and informational signage were placed throughout the park.

Representing the ADN party at the event were Stalin Alcántara, Vice Mayor; Elizabeth Mateo, General Secretary; Yovany Moya, President of the Municipal Council; Raudy Vargas, Administrative Director of the Council of Aldermen; and Yolanda de La Rosa, Director of Innovation and Special Projects. Representative Liz Mieses was also present.
