SANTO DOMINGO- The Dominican Association of Housing Builders and Developers (ACOPROVI) presented yesterday a series of technological innovations and services that seek to improve efficiency and sustainability in the Dominican construction sector.
During the first edition of the “ACOPROVI 2024 Housing Construction Congress”, entitled “Future of Housing Construction and Promotion in the Dominican Republic”, Annerys Meléndez, president of the entity, highlighted that the sector she represents is called to continue dialoguing, exchanging experiences and reinventing itself.
“We are in the midst of an ideal moment to drive new transformations in the housing construction sector. From fiscal considerations to the challenges of new technologies, innovative materials, and sustainable practices, we find ourselves needing to continue dialoguing, exchanging experiences, and reinventing ourselves,” said Meléndez in his opening speech.
The event was attended by around 300 businesspeople and representatives from the sector, thus strengthening the exchange of knowledge and promoting a more innovative and responsible future for housing development in the Dominican Republic.
During the meeting, attendees were able to exchange ideas and discuss local and global developments, as well as the regulatory challenges facing the construction industry.

The event brought together national and international experts from the construction sector to address the present and future of the housing real estate industry in the country, with the aim of updating and enriching knowledge about housing construction and promotion.
The event also included the participation of the Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), Carlos Bonilla; the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Víctor (Ito) Bisonó; the president of the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP), Juan Celso Marranzini; and the general director of the Institute of Technical and Professional Training (INFOTEP), Rafael Santos Badía.
Among the topics discussed, the international presentations stood out, such as the conference on the use of artificial intelligence in real estate development, presented by Monique Céspedes and Abraham Zamudio of 4S, Panama. Likewise, Pablo Lezama, from Gensler Mexico, gave a presentation on the future of construction and the BIIM methodology, a key tool for digital transformation in the industry.
The “New Project Management System at Mivhed” was presented by Vice Minister Vivian Reyes, while a panel of renowned experts discussed innovations in construction. The panel included engineer Michel El-Hage, CEO of Hageco; architect Juan Camilo Medina of Grupo Estrella; Ricardo Noboa, administrator of the Real Estate Registry; and architect Carlos Restrepo of Vicaria Arquitectura, Colombia. Moderated by engineer Guido Rosario, the panel also focused on promoting housing in the country.
