The interventions include the construction of the Andrés waterfront, the renovation of Plaza Caracoles and the reconstruction of Central Park, with an investment exceeding RD$414 million
SANTO DOMINGO – Boca Chica continues to add projects to its urban and tourism renewal process. This time, the municipality will be the site of three new interventions aimed at improving mobility, reclaiming public spaces, and strengthening the appeal of one of the country's most iconic coastal destinations.
The works were announced by the Ministry of Tourism, which reported the start of work on the construction of the new Andrés waterfront, the remodeling of Plaza Caracoles and the reconstruction of Central Park, initiatives that together represent an investment of RD$414.4 million.
According to the organization, these projects are part of a strategy aimed at consolidating Boca Chica as a more sustainable, inclusive destination, prepared to receive both national and international visitors.
A new maritime front for Andrés
According to the Ministry of Tourism, the main intervention corresponds to the construction of the new Andrés Maritime Front, a project that will cover more than 53,800 square meters and will extend from Brisas del Caucedo street to the end of the beach area.
The project includes the reconstruction of the seawall, the rehabilitation of recreational areas, and the improvement of access to the coastline. It also includes work on a section of approximately 923 meters of the road to Puerto Caucedo, with the aim of optimizing traffic flow and reducing the impact of heavy traffic in the area.
He explains that the initiative also incorporates new spaces for family recreation, sales modules, bathrooms, gazebo, sports areas, children's play areas, exercise zones, lighting, landscaping and urban furniture.
According to tourism authorities, this project represents an investment of RD$380.7 million and aims to improve the quality of public spaces available to both residents and visitors.
Restoration of emblematic spaces
The interventions will also reach two traditional points of the municipality: Plaza Caracoles and Central Park.
In the case of the plaza, located near Duarte Avenue and Boca Chica beach, the work includes the construction of a new plaza, landscaping improvements, installation of lighting, street furniture, restoration of swings and reconstruction of sidewalks.
Meanwhile, Central Park will be renovated through an intervention that includes new green areas, paving, accessibility improvements and adaptations for people with disabilities.
Both projects seek to revitalize community meeting spaces and strengthen the recreational offerings of the municipality.
Part of a broader transformation
The institution explained that these works are part of a broader plan to reorganize and modernize the tourist destination.
This strategy also includes projects such as the remodeling of the San Rafael Arcángel Parish, new infrastructure for tourist safety, improvements to the beach, spaces for vendors, and the intervention of key roads in the municipality.
