SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close various structures, including overpasses and bridges in Greater Santo Domingo, from Tuesday, November 7th until Saturday, November 11th, in order to carry out maintenance work.
In all cases, closing times range from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day.
The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning and drainage, among others.
Maintenance will be carried out on the John F. Kennedy and Máximo Gómez avenues underpass on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
This Tuesday, the underpass at the intersection of 27 de Febrero Avenue and Tiradentes Avenue, the intersection of Las Américas Avenue and José Francisco Peña Gómez Street (Boca Chica), the Las Américas tunnel and the 27 de Febrero tunnel (between Lincoln and Churchill), and the Kennedy overpasses at Doctor Defilló and Núñez de Cáceres Avenues will be closed.
Wednesday also includes the closure of the underpasses at 27 de Febrero Avenue with Defilló, Carmen Mendoza, Núñez de Cáceres and Privada, Las Américas marginal with Las Américas Avenue; the Kennedy overpasses with Abraham Lincoln, Lope de Vega and Tiradentes, and the Las Américas marginal tunnel.
That day, maintenance will also be performed on the control centers of the Ortega y Gasset Avenue tunnel (UASD), the Las Américas tunnel, and the 27 de Febrero tunnel between Lincoln and Churchill. This work does not require closures.
On Thursday and Friday, the removal of streetlights will take place at the underpass of the 27 de Febrero and Máximo Gómez avenues.
On Thursday there will be a total closure of the overpasses on Avenida 27 de Febrero and Kennedy with Ortega y Gasset, Marginal Las Américas with Avenida Estados Unidos (Los Tres Ojos); the underpasses on Avenida 27 de Febrero with Máximo Gómez, Juan Carlos Bridge, Avenida Ecológica with Charles de Gaulle, and Marginal Las Américas.
On Friday, the overpasses on the Jubey highway at the Boca Chica intersection, and the one that connects Santo Domingo to the highway to Samaná, will be closed.
Also, the overpasses of the Las Américas highway with José Francisco Peña Gómez streets, 6 and 7, with the Puerto de Caucedo road, at the intersection of Andrés Boca Chica, Route 66 (both directions), and with Hípica Avenue.
On Saturday, the overpasses of the Expreso Quinto Centenario with Tunti Cáceres and Peña Batlle streets, and the overpass of Máximo Gómez and Nicolás de Ovando avenues will be closed.
The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) apologizes to the public, especially to drivers who travel through these structures, but assures that the work to be carried out will result in greater efficiency of vehicular traffic.
