MOPC closes overpasses starting today, Tuesday, for maintenance in the GSD

SANTO DOMINGO.-Starting today, Tuesday, January 31, and until Saturday, February 4, the MOPC, Ministry of Public Works and Communications, will close various overpasses in Greater Santo Domingo to vehicular traffic, due to maintenance work being carried out on these structures.

In each case, there will be a total closure and the hours to be in effect will be from 10:00 at night to 5:00 in the morning of the following day.

The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, among others.

Today, Tuesday, the following will be closed: the overpasses on John F. Kennedy Avenue with Doctor Defilló and Núñez de Cáceres; the tunnels on Las Américas Avenue and the one on 27 de Febrero with Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill; and the underpass on 27 de Febrero with Tiradentes.

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will maintain tunnels and overpasses. (External source).

Tomorrow, Wednesday, the underpasses at 27 de Febrero and Núñez de Cáceres, Avenida Privada, Doctor Defilló, and Carmen Mendoza de Cornielle will be closed. Also closed will be the Las Américas bypass at Avenida Las Américas, and the overpasses at Kennedy and Lope de Vega, Tiradentes, and Abraham Lincoln.

The overpass at kilometer 14 of the Duarte highway (dry bridge) will also be partially closed.

On Thursday, the underpasses at the intersections of 27 de Febrero Avenue with Máximo Gómez Avenue, Kennedy Avenue with Máximo Gómez Avenue, and Charles de Gaulle Avenue with Ecológica Avenue will be closed. Additionally, the pedestrian bridges at Ecológica Avenue with Las Américas Marginal Highway, Juan Carlos Avenue, and 25 de Febrero Avenue with España Avenue will be closed, as well as the overpasses at Las Américas Marginal Highway with Estados Unidos Avenue (Los Tres Ojos) and Duarte Highway with Los Beisbolistas Avenue.

On Friday, the closure includes the Jubey-Boca Chica highway overpass; the Las Américas overpass with José Francisco Peña Gómez street, the Puerto Caucedo highway, 6th and 7th streets, with Route 66 (both directions), Hípica avenue and the Andrés Boca Chica entrance.

On Friday and Saturday there will be a partial closure and it corresponds to the overpass of the Juan Pablo II highway (Santo Domingo-Samaná intersection).

On Saturday the 4th, the closures include the overpasses of the Expreso Quinto Centenario with Tunti Cáceres and Peña Batlle, and the elevated section of Máximo Gómez with Nicolás de Ovando.
