SANTO DOMINGO.- The province of Montecristi will be the setting this coming weekend for the Tourism in Every Corner promotional platform, which is carried out by the Ministry of Tourism as a way to promote each of the Dominican destinations and their diverse offerings.
It will take place on Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th, in Duarte Park (Clock Park), where a large exhibition and sale of the province's tourist, cultural, gastronomic and artisanal products will be held.
This promotional platform involves the main actors in the territory's value chain, thereby fostering sustainable management and development.
The public attending will be able to enjoy artistic performances by the folk ballet and traditional ensemble of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ángeles Especiales Foundation group, baton twirling, children's groups, as well as cultural expressions of carnivals, the "steal the chicken" tradition, and others.
Montecristi
Montecristi is one of the 32 provinces of the Dominican Republic, located in the Northwest region of the country. It was founded by Nicolás de Ovando in 1506.
It has tourist attractions such as: El Morro National Park, which offers hiking activities, viewpoints, boat tours through the Montecristi mangroves, excursions to Cayo Siete Hermanos, Isla Cabra where you can also camp and appreciate a great nighttime space for stargazing, boat trips along the Montecristi coast, the Manzanillo mangroves among others.
Similarly, other places of interest include: The Montecristi Clock, designed by the French engineer Alexandre Gustave Eiffel and built by the famous French clockmaker Jean-Paul Garnie; The Máximo Gómez House Museum.
If you go to the province you can't miss trying its traditional dishes: such as goat, the Dominican flag, varieties of fish and seafood in the Malecón area of Montecristi, refresh yourself with its artisanal ice creams and its variety of night gastronomy.
This province is divided into 6 municipalities; Castañuelas, Guayubín, Las Matas de Santa Cruz, Montecristi, Pepillo Salcedo (Manzanillo) and Villa Vásquez and 5 municipal districts; Palo Verde, Hatillo Palma, Villa Elisa, Cana Chapetón and Santa María.
