SANTO DOMINGO.-The Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (Ceiztur) announced last Monday the awarding of 54 projects in different provinces of the country, of which 18 projects, 9 each, correspond to Samaná with a value of 910 million and La Altagracia with 688 million pesos.
Followed by Santo Domingo and Barahona with 7 and 5 projects respectively, valued at 1,132 million for the capital and 853 million pesos for Barahona.
The total amount disbursed for the 54 tourism projects is RD$6,263,906,898.9 million, according to the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, who also chairs the committee.
The provinces of San Pedro de Macorís and San Cristóbal are also on this list with 4 and 3 projects, worth 403 million and 304 million pesos, respectively.
These works have been awarded from 2021 to 2023, with the aim of guaranteeing access to holiday areas in coastal zones and maintaining security in tourist destinations.
“These awards have demonstrated transparency in everything concerning Ceiztur's works and contracts,” he noted.
Each of these projects was overseen by the Observatory of Good Practices, a commission made up of academics and representatives of civil society that verifies that each of these bidding and contracting processes comply with Law 340-06 on Public Procurement and Contracting.
The awarded processes include:
- Construction of building in the historic center of Puerto Plata province.
- Relaunch and reconstruction of streets in the urban center of the municipal district of Bayahíbe, La Altagracia province.
- Remodeling of the parish in Samaná.
- Construction of the park of the municipality of Bajos de Haina, San Cristóbal province.
- Reconstruction of the streets of the municipality of Sosúa, Puerto Plata.
While 16 properties have been declared vacant during this period:
- Reconstruction of the Pier of Miches, El Seibo province.
- Reconstruction of the Cayo Levantado Tourist Pier , Samaná
- Reconstruction of the Haina boardwalk , Playa Gringo, in the municipality of Bajos de Haina, San Cristóbal
- Improvement of the environment of the Boca de Cachón resort, Independencia province.
- Construction of the Pier in the municipal district of La Caleta, La Romana.
- According to the Good Practices Observatory, all processes have complied with the evaluation that includes the legal report of the works, the financial documentation and the technical evaluation that validates compliance with what is established in the terms and conditions.
