Ministry of Labor announces major job fair with 6,811 vacancies

SANTO DOMINGO.- Under the slogan "Your job is here," the Ministry of Labor will hold a major job fair with 6,811 vacancies, in which it will also formally launch the "RD-Trabaja" Program, through which it will promote the goal of reaching 50% formal employment in the country.

The new format for making job vacancies available to job seekers will be held on October 22nd, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Unicaribe Convention Center, on the Malecón in Santo Domingo.

The Minister of Labor, Eddy Olivares, stated that this will be an unprecedented activity, led by President Luis Abinader, where 64 companies from various sectors, such as the hotel, industrial and service sectors, will seek to fill vacant positions.

“Company representatives will receive resumes and conduct interviews in a good working environment, where participants will also receive talks and workshops on job searching,” the minister added.

He said that, “fortunately the country has become an oasis for foreign investment, thanks to legal security and labor and social peace, which contributes to economic growth and the creation of more and better jobs.”

Olivares stated that the job fairs, through the "RD-Trabaja" program, are being transformed and equipped with mechanisms and resources that make them more effective and ensure that participating companies hire more job seekers. He added that, to this end, technicians from the National Employment Service of the Ministry of Labor will maintain close communication with the companies and effectively monitor the results after the fairs take place.

“With the digital records of companies and job seekers, we will increase the monitoring, tracking, and evaluation of job openings, measuring their impact on the labor market,” the minister stated.

In that regard, he noted that they will go to the municipalities and provinces with the highest unemployment to bring them job placement opportunities, while expanding intermediation through the Territorial Employment Offices (OTE) and continuing to hold job fairs throughout the country, also focusing on the areas with the highest demand for jobs.
